What is Neuropsychological Testing?

A specialized form of assessment that evaluates a person's cognitive and psychological functioning, with a particular focus on how the brain is functioning. It involves a battery of standardized tests and measures that are designed to provide in-depth information about a person's cognitive abilities, emotional functioning, and behavior.

Should I Consider Testing?

Undergoing this form of testing can be quite daunting due to its time consuming nature. The patients who most frequently undergo these tests have specific questions or concerns that they are attempting to accurately assess. Of all psychiatric conditions those most commonly evaluated with thorough neuropsychological testing include:

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Anxiety Disorders
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Brain Injuries
Cognitive or Memory Changes
Dementias
Learning Difficulties
Mood Disorders
Neurodegenerative Conditions

What Does The Process Entail?

Neuropsychological testing is typically administered by trained neuropsychologists, psychologists, or other qualified healthcare professionals in an office setting. Here at The Center For Focused Care we have multiple psychologists who have performed these types of evaluations on a variety of patient populations throughout the years and who are still accepting new patients for testing. The specific tests used can vary significantly based upon the condition being evaluated but if you are interested in further discussion of what testing may be necessary for you please do not hesitate to reach out to the office. Please note that the majority of insurance companies will require a referral for these services from a physician or member of your mental health care team.
